Burn Ban in effect
Per the Washington County Board of County Commissioners, a burn ban is now in effect for 14 days. The ban will be reconsidered on Sept. 21st at the regular Board of County Commissioners meeting.

Effective Date & Duration: Takes effect immediately starting at 9:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026, for up to 14 days.

Prohibited Activities: Unlawful to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop, or wildlands, build campfires or bonfires, or burn trash or debris.

Allowed Exceptions:
Grilling/outdoor cooking on a hard, fireproof surface measuring at least 10 ft by 10 ft.
Welding, grinding, or gas torch work, provided there is a dedicated fire watch person and pressurized water available.

Enforcement & Penalties: Enforceable by any state law enforcement officer. Violations are punishable as a misdemeanor with up to a $500 fine, up to 1 year imprisonment, or both.
